Laminate Flooring Installation in Calgary, Alberta

Laminate gives you the look of hardwood at a lower price, with a wear layer built to survive dogs, kids, hockey bags, and a winter’s worth of road salt. Why Choose Us

Why Choose Calgary Flooring Boutique for Laminate Flooring Installation

Laminate is a floating floor. It is not fastened to the subfloor, so it moves as the seasons change, and it moves more in Calgary than in most Canadian cities. Indoor humidity here can swing from 40% in September to under 15% in January, and a chinook can shift it in a weekend. Installers who skip acclimation, cut the expansion gap too tight, or lay planks over a subfloor that is out by more than 3mm over 2 metres end up with peaked seams, hollow spots that click underfoot, and gaps that open in midwinter. Our installers plan for that movement from day one.

What We Do

Our Laminate Flooring Installation Services

Residential Laminate Installation

We install laminate throughout the house: living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, offices, and bonus rooms. Our team moves your furniture, prepares the subfloor, lays the underlayment, installs the floor, and cleans up after itself.

Commercial Laminate Installation

Offices, clinics, retail spaces, and rental units need a floor that holds up to rolling chairs and constant foot traffic. We install AC4 and AC5 commercial-rated laminate and schedule around your hours so your doors stay open.

Water-Resistant Laminate for Kitchens and Entryways

Standard laminate does not belong near standing water. Water-resistant laminate does, thanks to a sealed core and tight-locking edges rated to hold out spills for 24 to 72 hours depending on the product. We install it in kitchens, mudrooms, laundry rooms, and back entries, with sealed perimeters and transitions.

Basement and Concrete Subfloor Installation

Concrete slabs release moisture vapour long after they look dry. Before we install over a slab we test the moisture level, lay a 6 mil vapour barrier, and use an underlayment rated for below-grade use. If the moisture reading comes back too high for laminate, we will tell you and point you toward vinyl plank instead.

Materials

Types of Laminate Flooring We Install

AC3 Residential Laminate

The standard for bedrooms, living rooms, and family spaces with everyday foot traffic.

AC4 and AC5 Commercial Laminate

A harder wear layer for entryways, offices, retail floors, and busy households with large dogs.

Water-Resistant Laminate

A sealed core and tight-locking joints that hold out spills long enough for you to wipe them up.

12mm Thick-Core Laminate

More thickness underfoot means a more solid step and a quieter room than an 8mm floor.

Attached-Underlay Laminate

Underlayment pre-bonded to the plank, which cuts installation time and adds a bit of sound absorption.

Embossed-in-Register Laminate

Surface texture that lines up with the printed grain, so the floor feels like wood and not just a picture of it.

How It Works

The Hardwood Floor Installation Process

We follow a structured installation process to ensure your hardwood floors are set up for lasting performance.

01

Consultation & product selection

Our team helps you select the right species, grade, and finish for your space and lifestyle

02

Product Selection

We match the AC rating, thickness, and finish to how each room gets used. A back entry and a guest bedroom do not need the same floor.

03

Measurement and Detailed Quote

We measure the space and send you a written quote covering material, underlayment, trim, subfloor prep, and labour.

04

Delivery and Acclimation

Your laminate sits in the room where it will be installed for at least 48 hours so it can settle at your home's temperature and humidity. Skipping this step is the most common cause of buckling.

05

Subfloor Preparation and Underlayment

We remove the old flooring, check the subfloor for flatness, grind or fill anything out of tolerance, and install the right underlayment for the space, including a vapour barrier over concrete.

06

Laminate Installation

We stagger the seams, keep a consistent expansion gap around every wall and fixed object, and lock each plank in without hammering the joints.

Frequently Asked Questions

Laminate Flooring Installation

Answers to what Calgary homeowners ask us most before a laminate flooring project starts.

  • 01 Can laminate be installed over my existing floor?

Often, yes. Laminate can float over tile, hardwood, or vinyl as long as the surface is flat, solid, dry, and clean. Carpet has to come out. Adding a layer also raises your floor height, which affects door clearance and transitions, so we check that during the estimate.

  • 02 Is laminate a good choice for a Calgary basement?

It can be, in a dry basement, over a tested slab with a vapour barrier and a water-resistant product. If your basement has a history of seepage, a floor drain that has backed up, or high slab moisture readings, we will recommend vinyl plank instead. Laminate has a fibreboard core, and a flood will swell it past saving.

  • 03 How long does laminate flooring installation take?

Most rooms take half a day to a full day once the material has acclimated. A full main floor runs two to three days. Add time if the subfloor needs levelling or the old flooring is glued down. You get a realistic date range in your quote, not a guess.

  • 04 Should I pick laminate or vinyl plank?

Laminate wins on price, on surface hardness, and on how convincing the wood texture looks underfoot. Vinyl plank wins on water, full stop. A good rule: laminate for bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, and stairs; vinyl for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and any basement you have doubts about. Bring your floor plan to the showroom and we will map it out with you.

  • 05 Does laminate work with in-floor heating?

Many laminate products are approved for low-temperature hydronic systems, as long as the floor surface stays at or below about 27°C and the underlayment has a low enough thermal resistance. Electric mats are a product-by-product question. We check the manufacturer's specification before you buy, not after.

  • 06 How do I look after laminate once it is installed?

Sweep or vacuum with the beater bar off, and damp mop with a laminate cleaner. Keep steam mops and wet mops away from it, since water that sits in the seams will swell the core. Felt pads under furniture, a mat at every exterior door, and indoor humidity somewhere between 35% and 55% will keep the seams tight through a Calgary winter. We hand you care instructions on the last day.
